The 30^th Plenary Assembly of the International Catholic Movement for Intellectual and Cultural Affairs will be held in Nairobi , Kenya from 20^th to 27^th July 2008 at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa campus.

According to the tradition, the Plenary Assembly has 3 parts:

v     A Study Session; here an International Congress

v     An exposure programme in poor slums of Nairobi

v     The statutory Session with election of new boards and councils.

                            6.30 pm – Closing Mass by the Apostolic NunciO

Sunday 27 – departure or touristic program in Kenyan Natural Parks

Concept Paper

Speaking of our world as ‘global’ means that interdependence is a reality. The human society organized itself with International Institutions to regulate the development for the well being of all. But the reality that we live is quite different: poor are becoming poorer and rich, richer. How to overcome this unjust gap?

In 2000, all member-States of the United Nations adopted an ambitious program to reduce poverty by half before the year 2015: the Millennium Development Goals.

Environmental issues, climate change, extensive urbanization with the numerous slum dwellers are challenges for us all, mostly for us, Catholic Professionals.

Together we will listen to some high-level experts and reflect on our role and commitment in our countries, our movements and the Church. We will proclaim again that A better world more just is possible and urgently needed.

A Local Organising Committer has been set up in Nairobi with Augustine Mochere Ombati, Chairman of the Kenya Movement of Catholic Professionals affiliated to Pax Romana.

The first circular has been sent to all national movements along the addresses we found and received. If the circular did not reach you, please inform us and give your right contacts and addresses for a better service.

30^e Assemblée Plènière du M.I.I.C. – Pax Romana

La 30^e Assemblée Plénière Mondiale du Mouvement International des Intellectuels Catholiques se tiendra à Nairobi, Kenya, du 20 au 27 juillet 2008 au campus de l’Université Catholique de l’Afrique de l’Est.

Suivant la tradition, l’Assemblée comprendra 3 parties :

v     La Session d’Études qui sera un Congrès International

v     L’immersion dans les milieux défavorisés du Kenya

v     Le session statutaire élective de nouveaux bureaux et conseils.

Mercredi 23 – Réflexion sur le thème du Congrès entre membres du MIIC – Pax Romana

Jeudi 24 – Programme d’immersion dans les bidonvilles de Nairobi

Vendredi 25 et Samedi 26 – Session Statutaire

18h30 – Messe de clôture par le Nonce Apostolique

Dimanche 27 juillet – départs ou programmes touristiques dans les parcs         naturels du Kenya

Approche conceptuelle

       Le monde actuel est interdépendant. Les Institutions Internationales ont été créées pour permettre un développement harmonieux de l’humanité. Mais la réalité vécue montre que les pauvres deviennent plus pauvres.

       Les gouvernements se sont engagés en l’an 2000 dans les Objectifs de Développement du Millénaire. Où en est-on aujourd’hui à mi-route ?

       Les problèmes de l’Environnement, de l’Habitat Humain, des migrations des populations et autres ne peuvent pas nous laisser indifférents, nous, professionnels chrétiens.

       Ensemble nous écouterons des experts en ces domaines et nous réfléchirons sur notre engagement chrétien. Nous voulons réaffirmer : Un autre monde plus juste est possible et nécessaire.

       Un Comité Local d’Organisation a été constitué, à Nairobi, autour de Augustine Mochere Ombati, Président du Kenya Movement of Catholic Professionals affilié à Pax Romana.
